Cooperation between CAS and Local Authorities

S&T to Guarantee Leapfrog Development in Tibet

The 2010 Tibet S&T Development Strategy Forum co-sponsored by CAS and Tibet Autonomous Region Government was opened in Lhasa on August 6. Li Jiayang, Zhan Wenlong and Ding Zhongli, Vice Presidents of CAS, Aden, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Tibet People’s Congress, Liu Qinghui, Vice Chairman of Tibet Political Consultative Conference and other leaders attended the opening ceremony. Meng Deli, Vice Chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region Government, chaired the opening ceremony. Some leaders and experts from relevant research institutes of CAS and more than 500 representatives from relevant departments, colleges and universities, research institutes and enterprises of Tibet Autonomous Region attended the opening ceremony. With the theme of “promoting great leap-forward development of Tibet with science and technology”, this forum extensively discussed the protection and construction of ecological security screen, development and utilization of local resources, accessibility and service of S&T information in Tibet, challenges that face the S&T development in Tibet and countermeasures to tackle such challenges and other major issues.
