High-Performance Alloy Prepared

After three years¡¯ hard work, through cooperation with PetroChina, the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry (CIAC), CAS successfully prepared high-performance polypropylene copolymer alloy in the presence of independently developed phosphate donor polypropylene catalyst. This polypropylene alloy features a wide range of modulus and high impact strength. Researchers from CIAC undertook the Project ¡°Research and Development of High-performance Polypropylene Copolymer Alloy¡± supported by the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China in December 2006. Through cooperation with PetroChina and according to the needs of domestic market and the development strategy of PetroChina, they used the new phosphate compound as the donor, through regulation of the structure of phosphate compound, copolymerization of catalyst and the chain structure, physical and packed structure of particles, aggregation structure, stiffness and toughness of polypropylene alloy, developed packaged technology and process with proprietary intellectual property right for the preparation of polypropylene alloy. The phosphate donor polypropylene catalyst invented by them meets the requirements of industrial catalyst in all indexes, which laid the foundation for the commercialization of high-performance polypropylene homopolymer and copolymer products. The use of polypropylene copolymer alloy in China is about 300,000-400,000 tons every year. Two Chinese patents and one American patent have been applied based on the results.
