Sino-Denmark Pre-Diabetes Centre Completed

The inauguration ceremony for SIBS-Novo Nordisk Translational Research Centre for Pre-Diabetes co-established by the Shanghai Institute for Biological Sciences, CAS and Denmark Novo Nordisk Corporation and prize-giving ceremony for ¡°CAS-Novo Nordisk Great Wall Professor Award¡± were held in Shanghai on Aug. 6. The SIBS-Novo Nordisk Translational Research Centre for Pre-Diabetes was co-established by Shanghai Institute for Biological Sciences, CAS and Denmark Novo Nordisk Corporation, a leading enterprise in the field of diabetes. The center will shift the front for the prevention of diabetes to the early stage of the formation of diabetes. The research of the center will focus on the early stage of the formation of diabetes, collect personal specimen and data through clinical work and community tracking and carry out the work around three aspects, namely, study of molecular mechanism in the formation course of obesity and diabetes, discovery of molecular markers related to the formation course of obesity and diabetes and study of nutrition intervention method and change of life style that can slow down or reverse the formation course of obesity and diabetes. On the meeting, the first 5 winners of CAS-Novo Nordisk Great Wall Professor Award were also announced.
