Long Chain Dicarboxylic Acid Put into Production

The ceremony for formal operation of the first phase and cornerstone-laying of the second phase of long chain dicarboxylic acid industrialization project, a cooperation project between the Institute of Microbiology, CAS and Shandong Hilead Biotechnology Company Limited, was held on Sep. 27. The technology of producing long chain dicarboxylic acid by bio-fermentation method was an important achievement in scientific research made by scientists of two generations from the Institute of Microbiology, CAS after nearly 40 years’ research. This technology has obtained 7 national patents of invention, is innovative and has bright prospects of industrialization. The investment in the first phase of the project was 700 million yuan and the total investment in this project is expected to reach nearly 3 billion yuan. It will be built into a long chain dicarboxylic acid production and R&D base with the largest production and advanced technology in the world. Its annual production will reach 60,000 tons and output value is expected to reach nearly 4 billion yuan. At present, the first phase has gone into operation and succeeded in trial production. Its annual production will reach 10,000 tons. This project is expected to promote the formation of a national high-tech industry with home-grown intellectual property right.
