Nature¡¤Nanotechnology: Online Comment on CAS Recent Progress

On Oct. 5, Nature¡¤Nanotechnology made an online comment on the recent progress achieved by Le Jiachang Research Team of the Institute of Biophysics, CAS and Tang Fangqiong Research Team of the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, CAS in preparing QD-based biosensors of various colors by a biomolecular motor ¨C ATP enzyme. The comment holds that this achievement has significant value in real-time multi-target monitoring in a complicated system.

The research result is published on the 10th Issue of J. Phys. Chem. (B) in 2007. Such discovery has extremely high theoretical value in accelerating the application pace of the hybrid biosensor between molecular motor and quantum dot, as well as developing the application of the new optic encoding technology in determination of multiple biological targets.

Leading Science Periodicals Tracing Ecological Results in Climate Change by CAS

Recently, Nature, Science and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science (USA)respectively reported and commented the achievement jointly made by Zhang Zhibin, Research Fellow of the Institute of Zoology, CAS, and Prof. Nils Stenseth, of the University of Oslo, Norway.

Last September, Zhang Zhibin and Nils Stenseth jointly issued a paper on the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science of the United States of America, which expounds that the occurrence of the plague of locusts in history of China for thousands of years closely relates to climatic changes between the cold and warm periods: the occurrence frequency of the plague of locusts in the cold period is obviously higher than that during the warm period, which is just contrary to the unanimous view in the past. Ever since the paper has aroused the attention of the international S&T circles as well as news media.
