On Apr. 29, the first batch of 19 Libyan youngsters completed their 21-days training in the Sino-Libya Desertification Prevention Technology Training Course at the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, CAS. They systematically studied the principles of desertification prevention, monitoring and evaluation of desertification, methodology of desert highway construction, sandstorm disaster prevention,etc.
Xishuangbanna and Chiang Mai: Specimens Exchange Formed
In early April, the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of CAS and Chiang Mai Botanic Garden of Thailand signed a long-term agreement on the exchange of speciments. According to the agreement, the two parties will exchange 10,000 speciments. When the first phase of the exchange completed, the two parties are intending to sign a new exchange agreement to promote further exchange. Chiang Mai and Xishuangbanna, both are known to the world for their abundant plant species and closely related in flora distribution.
