New Chips to Promote Cooperation between ICT and ST

The Institute of Computing Technology (ICT), CAS and ST, one of the world¡¯s largest semi-conductor manufacturers from France, declared in Beijing on Mar. 28 that they would cooperate to commercialize the IP chips of the Longxin 2E. The Longxin CPU is one of the milestone achievements of the home-grown innovation in China.

Pursuant to the CTIBO between China and France, ICT started cooperation with the ST since 2004. In the cooperative project, ITC takes charge of the architecture and the design of the chip, while ST provides manufacturing technique, production and sales, etc. ICT and ST will co-promote the chip product in the Chinese market. Pursuant to the License Agreement signed between the two sides, ICT authorizes ST to manufacture and sell the relevant chips globally for a period of 5 years. The cooperative project combines ICT¡¯s outstanding capacity of designing advanced CPU with ST¡¯s cutting edge manufacturing technique and its world leading manufacturing facilities. Gian Luca Bertino, Vice President of ST and General Manager of its Peripheral Products Department, said that with very high performance and very low power consumption, the Longxin series CPUs are suitable for all kinds of applications.
