On Feb. 14, a delegation of over 20 experts from Nokia, Finland, paid a visit to the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem, CAS.
On Mar. 5, Prof. Inoue, Director of the Graduate School of Biological and Environmental Sciences of the University of Tsukuba, paid a visit to the Graduate School of CAS with his entourage of 17 people. Both sides discussed further educational cooperation and exchanges.
On Mar. 6, President of Uzbekistan Academy of Science paid a visit to the Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, CAS. The two sides discussed topics such as initiatives to promote expert visiting, exchanges between young scholars, and share of scientific information and co-ponsoring of cooperative projects. The two sides also signed a memorandum.
On Mar. 9, Shavkat I. Salikhov, President of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences and Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, paid a visit to the Shanghai Institute of Biological Sciences, CAS.
On the morning of Mar. 15, Prof. Raewyn Dalziel, Academic Vice President of Auckland University, paid a visit to the Graduate School of CAS with his entourage of 4. The two sides held friendly talk to discuss the exchanges and cooperation, which has deepened mutual understanding.
On Mar. 21, Dr. Schmidt, Director of the DFG Department of Chemical and Process Engineering paid a visit to the Institute of Chemistry, CAS.
Dr. A Meyer, Director of the Institute of Space Material Physics of the German Aerospace Center, paid a visit to the Institute of Metal Research, CAS, and gave lectures from Mar. 21 to 22. The two sides expressed the willingness to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in the fields of space material and computer simulation and signed a memorandum.
Dr. Craig Mello, the 2006 Nobel Biological and Medical Prize laureate from the Medical School of MIT, gave an academic report entitled “RNA Disturbance: from Mechanism to Therapy” at the Graduate School of CAS and the Guangzhou Institute of Biomedicine and Health, CAS on Mar. 27 and 29 respectively.
On Mar. 28, Nosirdjan Yusupov, Uzbekistan Ambassador to China paid a visit to the Xinjiang Institute of Bio-geography with his entourage accompanied by the leaders of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region.
On invitation of the EU and Kazakhstan’s Department of Environment, Chen Xi, Director of the Xinjiang Institute of Bio-geography, CAS, paid a visit to Alma-ata, the capital of Kazakhstan, with his entourage to attend the International Meeting of “Comprehensive Management of the Yili & Balgash River zone”.
In the afternoon of Mar 28, the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications (IRSA), CAS held a ceremony to grant the certificate of visiting professor. Dr. Lu Lixin, Research Fellow from the Department of Atmospheric Science of Colorado State University (USA), won the title and was granted the Letter of Appointment by Gu Xingfa, Executive Vice Director of IRSA.
On Mar. 29, a delegation of 5 members from Shell Group, including Nicolas Xiemenez Bruidegom, its General Manager for Clean Coal, Alexander van der Made, its External Research Cooperation Manager/Chinese Project Coordinator, and Dr. Chen Zhongxin, General Manager of Shell (China) Ltd. for Clean Coal Strategy and Development, paid a visit to the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS.
