Innovation and DevelopmentBai Chuanli Present at LAMOST Completion Ceremony On Oct. 16, the completion ceremony for state key scientific program_the large sky area multi-object fiber spectroscopic telescope project (LAMOST) was staged at Xinglong Station of the National Astronomical Observatory. Bai Chunli, Executive Vice President of CAS and Director General of the LAMOST Project Management Committee attended the ceremony. Other participants include Su Dingqiang, Member of CAS and one of the initiators of LAMOST program and Richard Ellis, Leader of the LAMOST International Evaluation Expert Team. As a state key scientific program with investment of 235 million RMB yuan from the Chinese government, LAMOST boasts one of the most challenging and innovative programs compared to other similar programs in China. The construction and operation of LAMOST will enable China to have the world most advanced active optics technology and observatory capacity with multi-object fiber spectroscopic. As a large astronomic equipment, LAMOST will be open to the astronomic communities both at home and abroad and international cooperation will be proactively explored.
