?Color and Temperature Scanner of Sea Water Rocketed to Sky with "Haiyang-1B"
The home-made "Haiyang-1B" (Ocean 1B) satellite was launched at 11:27 a.m. from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center and reached the target orbit with a height of 800 kilometers. The Color and Temperature Scanner of Sea Water known as the ˇ°Ocean Eyesˇ± boarding the satellite was developed by researchers of the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics with the detecting prowess tripling its predecessor "Haiyang-1A", excellent in monitoring red tides, sand, etc.
New and Highly Effective Asymmetry Chiral Organocatalysts Generated
A research group from the Molecular Recognition and Selective Synthesis laboratory under the Institute of Chemistry, CAS has been long devoted to the research of Chiral Organocatalysts. Recently, the researchers developed a new type of diamine catalyst, realizing the high activity and stereoselectivity of catalyst to aldol reactions. The research results were reported by ˇ°American Chemical Societyˇ± (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2007, Vol. 129, No. 11, p. 3074-3075).
