Brief NewsBased on the number of papers published in Nature and its subsidiary journals, the CAS ranked to 6th from 14th last year in the world by Nature Publishing Index (NPI) 2013, bettering the University of Tokyo and taking over as the top Asia-Pacific contributor to the NPI. China and Hungary: MOU Inked between Academies In the witness of Li Keqiang, Premier of the People¡¯s Republic of China and Viktor Orb¨¢n, Prime Minister of Hungary , a MOU was inked by Bai Chunli, President of CAS, and J¨®zsef P¨¢link¨¢s, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA), Feb. 12. The MOU mapped out a future picture which the two academies would pursue; the two sides would explore the feasibility of setting up joint labs and crystallize bilateral relations in a more fashion. 7th Sino-German Frontiers of Science Symposium Held The 7th Sino-German Workshop on Frontier Science, jointly sponsored by CAS and Alexander von Humboldt Foundation , was held March 21¨C23. Attendants included over 60 young scientists from research institutions and universities of both countries. Forum of Cooperation and Development of World Biosphere Reserves Held To enhance the cooperation between CAS and the World Biosphere Reserves in China, the Forum of Cooperation and Development of World Biosphere Reserves was held in CAS, March 13. Based on 2 days¡¯ communication and discussion, the Secretariat of Chinese National Committee for Man and the Biosphere Programme and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), worked out an action plan. According to the plan, 14 projects would be carried out in the near future. |
