Cooperation between CAS and Local Authorities High Strength/Toughness Magnesium Alloy to be Industrialized New progress has recently been made regarding the development and application of high-strength and high-toughness magnesium alloy by the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry in collaboration with the Linjiang Dongfeng non-ferrous metals Co. Ltd., Faw Foundry Co. Ltd., Yangzhou hongfu Aluminum Co. Ltd. and Changchun Zhongke Seemay Magnesium Co. Ltd. Profs. Zhang Hongjie, Meng Jian et al from the Institute, orienting to solve the low mechanical properties and relevant weaknesses of the ZK60 Mg alloy, invented the Mg Alloy with high-strength and high toughness by putting in reasonable mass ratio of the yttrium and gadolinium through appropriate Coagulation factor that lead to the inhibition of heat crack of Zn in magnesium alloy. The excess cheap La/Ce mischmetal are adopted in large amounts instead of the unnecessary waste of high value but costy Nd as raw materials for the development of the new type Mg alloy with high performance, heat and creep-resistant, so the key problem concerned with the low-strength and low performance in heat and creep-resistance is solved. The achievement has been granted one USA patent and 7 patents of invention in China. Several patent technologies have been already industrialized with relevant enterprises. |
