Geoscience Pre-warning Threshold Value on Typical Geo-hazards The pre-warning of geo-hazards by means of threshold value was recognized as the key issues and challenges worldwide. A research team led by Prof..Qiao Jianping from the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS Achieved new understanding on the rainfall threshold value by simulation and on debris flows and landslides in the key Laboratory of Mountain Hazards and Surface process. After completion of the geo-logical hazards real-time monitoring system, five disasters sites in Dujiangyan and Pengzhou County, Chengdu City were taken for the observation, in mind to solve these issues and to lay basis for disaster pre-warning in those monitoring disaster sites, the research team started to identify the individual actual range of rainfall threshold values in the five monitoring disaster sites based on the experimental test and statistics of primary disaster effect parameters and rainfall data. Additionally the monitoring data from the geological hazards real-time monitoring system is applied to verify and modify the range of rainfall threshold values, which eventually ensure the accuracy of such data. These new understandings not only solve the issues and laid basis for disaster pre-warning, but also obtained many results on the dynamic processes, activities, and mechanism on landslides and debris flows from the experimental test with large scale physical model test platform. These achievements may provide accurate basis for geological hazards monitoring and pre-warning system, and thus eventually improve the understanding in depth of the mountainous hazards research. |
