Evaporative Cooling Technology Industrialized

The Evaporative Cooling Technology (ECT) for Power Equipment Project that had implemented by the Institute of Electrical Engineering, CAS in joint efforts with the China Three Gorges Corporation, the Orientalmotor, etc. for ten years was passed the acceptance and check in Hubei Province on May 11. Research Prof. Lin Ruan briefed that the test on development and type-selection of the 330 MW turbogenerator with evaporation cooling was successfully completed for the whole system of 840 MW evaporative cooling hydrogenerator, further, the fabrication of two sets of 800 MW grade evaporative cooling hydrogenerators was also put into operation. Moreover, splendid results in terms of commercial operation for the Three Gorges Underground Power Station were achieved with all specific indexes satisfied the afore-made requirements. The ECT, as a totally home-grown innovative technology, proved to be an excellent technology with widely application in many fields, including the 1000 MW power units, power plant capacity increase, and offshore wind farms, etc..
