Cooperation with Local Authorities Bioscience International Cooperation Brief News Visits & Exchanges
  • On Oct. 9th, a delegation led by Don Koo Lee, Professor of the Seoul National University and Chairman of the International Union of Forest Research, paid a visit to the Institute of Botany, CAS.
  • On the morning of Oct. 13th, 18 members of the ¡°Future Scientists group¡± from Swiss, paid a visit to the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, CAS.
  • From Oct. 16th to Nov. 24th, entrusted by the Ministry of Commerce, the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications, CAS, organized the 2006 training program on the remote sensing application technology for 14 S&T tranees from 9 African countries, namely, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Mauritius, Namibia, Liberia, Kenya, Egypt, Ghana and Lesotho.
  • On Oct. 18th, Dick Bliderg, Director of the U.S. Autonomous Undersea Systems Institute (AUSI), paid a visit to the Shenyang Institute of Automation, CAS. As one of the founders of the Marine Systems Engineering Laboratory, Bliderg is currently the associate editor of the IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering.
  • On Oct. 18th, a delegation led by Kevin Rivette, IBM's Vice President of Intellectual Property Strategy, paid a visit to the Institute of Computing Technology, CAS.
  • On the morning of Oct. 23rd, a 7-member delegation, led by Prof. Sally Mason, Provost of the American Purdue University, paid a visit to the Graduate University of CAS. A memo of cooperation was signed between the two sides.
  • On the afternoon of Oct. 23rd, a delegation led by KAN, Yuet Wai, Board Chairman of the Croucher Foundation, paid a visit to the Chengdu Institute of Biology.
  • On the afternoon of Oct. 24th, Larry A. Nielsen, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor of the North Carolina State University USA, paid a visit to the Graduate School of CAS with his entourage. A memo of cooperation was signed between the two sides.
  • On Oct. 25th, Daniel Larson, President of the School of Science, Pennsylvania State University, USA, paid a visit to the Institute of Botany, CAS.
  • On the morning of Oct. 26th, a delegation from the Australian Monash University, paid a 3-day visit to the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, CAS. Both sides preliminarily agreed with the framework for overall cooperation agreement.
  • On Oct. 27th, some 20 young experts of life sciences, who are members S&T Researcher Delegation led by the French President Jacques Chirac, paid a visit to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, CAS.
  • On Oct. 27th, Mr. G?te Bernhardsson, Governor of the V?stra G?taland, Sweden, paid a visit to the University of Science and Technology of China, with his entourage.
  • On Nov. 6th, a delegation led by Perminov, President of the Russian Space Agency paid a visit to the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics£¬CAS.
  • On Nov. 11th, Michel Beckert, Director of the Le Centre de Clermont-Ferrand-Theix, INRA, paid a visit to the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, CAS.
  • On Nov. 12th, a 12-member delegation led by Nikolai Maksyuta, leader of the Russian Volgograd State, paid a visit to the China-Russia Science Park in Changchun. The two sides discussed issues related to the S & T cooperation between China-Russia Science Park and Volgograd State and signed a cooperation agreement.
  • On Nov. 13th, Dr. Margaret Leinen, Assistant Director of the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), together with William (Bill) Chang, Director of the NSF Beijing Office, paid a 1-day working visit to the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology.
  • On the afternoon of Nov. 20th, Mrs. Catherine Br¨¦chignac, President of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, France (CNRS), Mr. Jean-Jacques Gagnepain, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Research Agency (ANR), Mr. Francois Guinot, President of the French Academy of Engineering, and Mr. Maurice Gross, CNRS Director in charge of Scientific Research and Industrial Affairs, Jean-Francois Sabouret, CNRS Liaison Officers in charge of the Asia Region Affairs, Qi Funian, Director of CNRS Beijing Office, paid a visit to the Institute of Process Engineering, CAS with their entourage.
  • On the morning of Nov. 29th, Henri Revol, President of the French Parliament Office for Evaluation of the S & T Choices, and five officials from the French Embassy including Counsellor for Science and Technology paid a visit to the Space Center.
