Kunming Natural History Museum of Zoology Inaugurating Opening Ceremony
On the afternoon of Oct. 31st, the Kunming Natural History Museum of Zoology, co-established by CAS and the Yunnan Provincial Government held a grand opening ceremony. As a key project under the CAS Innovation Program and one of the two major museums that received CAS support, construction of the Museum was started in 2000 with a total investment of 3.8 million RMB yuan and the construction area of 7400 square meters. In 2004, it was named Kunming Natural History Museum of Zoology upon approval of the Yunnan Provincial Government. Boasting nearly 600,000 specimen, it has the animal specimen pool that is the largest in southwest of China and the second largest in China. It was opened formally to the public from Nov. 6, 2006.
