  • On Mar. 28, Prof. Natasha Raikhel, Director of the Plant Cell Biology Center, UC Riverside, paid a visit to the Shanghai Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology .
  • On Mar. 30, Prof. Ekhard Salje, head of the Department of Geo-science, Cambridge University, and member of the Royal Society, paid a visit to the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, CAS for academic exchanges.
  • Dr. George Atkinson, S&T Advisor to the US Secretary of State, paid a visit to the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, CAS with his entourage on Apr. 2. They also paid a visit to the Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics, CAS on Apr. 4.
  • On Apr. 3, Hiroshi Kawakami , Standing Director and Takeshi Adachi , Director of the Japan Peat Society, entered into an agreement with Wang Tao, Director of the Cold and Arid Region Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, CAS on collaborative research of peat and sand-binding plant for quick sand fixation.
  • On Apr. 5, a delegation composed of experts for nuclear wastes disposal headed by Melnikov, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and Director of the Mining Institute, Kola Science Center of RAS , paid a visit to the Wuhan Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, CAS. Zhu Yaozhong, Director of the Wuhan Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, CAS met with the experts.
  • Princess Chulabhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand paid a visit to the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, CAS on Apr. 6. The next day, she paid a visit to the Shanghai Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology, CAS.
  • On Apr. 6, a S&T delegation of five members from Institute of Computing Technology and Institute of Control Machine of the DPRK Academy of Sciences paid a visit to the Shenyang Institute of Automation, CAS.
  • On Apr. 11, Leszek Borysiewicz, Vice President of the Imperial College, London and his entourage paid a visit to the Institute of Automation, CAS.
  • On Apr. 13, Christine M'rini, Vice Counselor of S&T Cooperative Department from the French Embassy to China paid a visit to the Institute of Botany, CAS.

  • On Apr. 17, Prof. Pierre Braunstein from the University of Louis Pasteuer, France paid a visit to the Institute of Chemistry, CAS.
  • Dr. H. J. Zhao, Principal Scientist of the Griffith University paid a visit to the Guangzhou Institute of Energy, CAS for academic exchanges on Apr. 18,
  • On Apr. 18, a delegation of six members from the A&M University at Texas, America, headed by Dr. David Prior, Standing Vice President paid a visit to the Institute of Oceanology, CAS.
  • On Apr. 18,Chen Zhu, Vice President of CAS met with Mr. Bernard Belloc, S&T Counselor and Ms. Christine M'rini, Assistant S&T Counselor of the French Embassy to China. Chen Zhu held a dinner in their honor. The two sides had friendly discussion regarding the Sino-French cooperation on new infectious diseases.
  • On Apr. 18, Dr. Thomas Schmidt-Dorr, Director of Deuts DAAD in Beijing paid a visit to the Institute of Physics and Chemistry, CAS.
  • On Apr. 19, a S&T delegation composed of teachers and students from the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Department of Applied Physics, Twente University, Netherlands, paid a visit to the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, CAS.
  • On Apr. 20, Prof. Dr. Xianqing Li-Jost from the Max-Planck Institute of Mathematics addressed an academic lecture in the Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics, CAS.
  • On Apr. 20, Prof. J.M. Hvam from the Technical University of Denmark paid a visit to the National Lab for Infrared Physics in the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, CAS on invitation.
  • On Apr. 20, Prof. Jan Harff from the Baltic Sea Research Institute at Warnem¨¹nde (Germany) paid a visit to the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, CAS for academic exchanges.
  • On Apr. 22, a delegation of six headed by V. Napua Baker, Vice President of the Brigham Young University, Hawaii, and John Muaina, Vice President of the Polynesian Cultural Center, paid a visit to the Herbarium of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geology, CAS.
  • Prof. Archakov Alexander, Director of the Institute of Biological and Medical Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), and Prof. Konstantin G.Skryabi, Academician of RAS, Director of the Biological Engineering Center, RAS and member of Russian president's advisory group of science and hi-tech, paid a visit on Apr. 25, to the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, CAS.
  • On Apr. 26, Steve Westwell, President and CEO of the Department of Renewable Energy, British Petroleum (BP) and Dr. Gary Dirks, President for BP's Asia and China region paid a visit to the Dalian Institute of Chemistry and Physics, CAS with their entourage. They came to inspect progress of the collaborative programs.
  • On Apr. 26, Prof. F. Andrew Smith, member of the Australian Academy of Science, from the School of Earth and Environmental Science, University of Adelaide, paid a visit to the South China Botanical Garden, CAS.
  • On May 11, Prof. Michael E. Lamm and Prof. Man-Sun Sy, both from the Department of Pathology, School of Medicine of the Case Western Reserve University paid a visit to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, CAS for academic exchanges.
  • Mark Linesch, Chairman of the Global Grid Forum (GGF), Steve Crumb, Executive Director of GGF, and their entourage paid a visit on May 15, specifically to the Computer Network Information Center (CNIC), CAS, where the Chinese National Center for Computer Network Operation is located.
  • On May 15, a delegation of three headed by Director of the Department of Operation and Corporate Planning of RIKEN paid a visit to CAS Shanghai Branch.
  • On May 18, Prof. Chennupati Jagadish from the Australian National University (ANU) paid a visit to the National Lab for Infrared Physics of the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, CAS.
  • On May 19, Kumagai, Director of the Institute of Material Research, SONY paid a visit to CAS with his entourage.
  • On May 22, President and its Asia Region President of Elanco, US paid a visit to the Shanghai Institute of Materica Medica, CAS with their entourage of three.
  • On May 22, a delegation of four from the U.S. Embassy to China paid a visit to the Herbarium of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geology, CAS.
  • On May 23, George P. Tsetsekos, head of the School of Business, Drexel University paid a visit to CAS Shanghai Branch.
  • On May 31, an inspection delegation composed of ambassadors of seven European countries paid a visit to the Herbarium of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geology, CAS, accompanied by leaders of the Office of Foreign Affairs, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The delegation consisted of ambassadors and their spouses from the German, French, Norwegian, Finish, Swedish, Iceland, and Denmark embassies to P. R. China.
