In Print Academy-Locality Cooperation International Cooperation Briefs Visits & Exchanges
  • From Jan. 25 to Feb. 6, at the invitation of Ms. Dipuo Peters, Governor of the Northern Cape Province of South Africa and Mr. Dan Singh, Mayor of Port Nolloth, Fan Xiao, Han Lijun and 5 other research fellows from the Institute of Oceanology, paid a visit to South Africa for a field survey on the algal resource as well as relevant processing and utilization technologies of algae.
  • On Feb. 9-10, U. Platt, Director of the Environmental Physics Institute of Heidelberg University of Germany, and T. Wagner, head of the Institute's Satellite Research Group, paid a visit to the Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics.
  • On Feb. 14, China and U.S. held an overseas telephone conference on further cooperation regarding the study and protection of the Chinese River Dolphin (Lipotes vexillifer), etc. The conference was jointly initiated by Mr. Randy Reeves, Chairman of Cetacean Expert Group of the World Conservation Union (IUCN), and Ms. Susie Ellis of the Conservation International (CI).
  • On Feb. 15, Georg Wie?meier, Director of New Business in Asia Pacific , Bayer Material S&T Group paid a visit to the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, and conducted an interim inspection on the organic photo-electricity project, a cooperation between the two parties.
  • Recently, during his visit to RIKEN, Japan, Zhan Wenlong, member of CAS and Director General of the Institute of Modern Physics, renewed the S&T cooperation agreement entitled ¡°Memorandum of Cooperation between the Institute of Modern Physics and RIKEN¡±. For 17 years, under this framework of the agreement, the two parties have launched effective cooperative studies in fields like atomic nucleus physics, accelerator physics and its technology, and nuclear technology application.
  • On Feb. 14-21, Shi Ping, Director General of the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, paid a visit to the International Pacific Research Center (IPRC). During the visit, Prof. McCreary, Director of IPRC introduced the development status, staff composition, project results of IPRC, and the purpose of the research to promote the climate study in the Asian-Pacific Region.
  • Recently, Uwe Vagt, Director of Global New Business Development Division, BASF of Germany paid a visit to the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics.
  • On Feb. 23¨C24, Wang Enge and his 3 colleagues, paid a visit to NTT Basic Research Laboratories. The two parties signed a cooperative research agreement valid for three years.
  • Recently, Dr. Wang Yong and Dr. Liu Yifei from the Laboratory of Conservation and Genetics, Wuhan Botanical Garden, CAS flied to Japan for academic exchanges and friendly visits on cooperative research and protection of botanic resources in the East Asia at the invitation of Prof. Suzuki, Director of the Botanic Garden of Tohoku University, Japan.
  • On March 1, Takeshi TAMURA £¬ Director of the International Center, the Kyoto University, Japan, paid a visit to the Graduate School, CAS with other four.
  • On March 8, Prof. Nguyen Huu Tang, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Central Commission of Science and Education and the delegation he headed, paid a visit to the Yunnan Astronomical Observatory of CAS. On March 11, Nguyen Huu Tang, and his entourage paid a visit to the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, CAS.  
  • Recently, Dr. Zhang Shanqing, a research scientist at the Griffith University, Australia, paid a visit to the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, CAS for academic exchanges on photo-electricity catalyzation.
  • Recently, Nobukazu KAWAMOTO, Executive Director of the Overseas Business Division, Dai Nippon Toryo Co., Ltd. and his entourage paid a visit to the Institute of Oceanology for academic exchanges for four days.
  • Recently, Prof. Patrick Williams of the Katholieke University, Belgium and his entourage paid a visit to the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology & Geology, CAS, which consequently inaugurated the cooperative research project entitled ¡°Supporting Integrated Management of Water Resources in Tarim River by Using Hydrology Model for Arid and Semi-Arid Ecological Systems and Remote Sensing Technology¡±.
  • On March 9, a CEO delegation over 40 members from Korea paid a visit to the Graduate School of CAS.
  • On March 14, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Director of the International Science & Technology Affairs Directorate, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) of India, as head of a S&T delegation, paid a visit to the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, CAS. 
  • On March 14, Dr. Basil Arif, Research Scientist of the Great Lakes Forestry Centre of the Canadian Forest Service, a noted NRC virologist, paid a visit to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, CAS  on invitation.
  • On March 13-15, Prof. Masataka Watanabe of the Keio University, Japan, Prof. Wang Qinxue of the National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan, and Academician Dechingungaa Dorjgotov, Director of the Institute of Geology, Mongolian Academy of Sciences paid a visit to the Institute of Geographic Science and Natural Resource Research, CAS, and held talks on issues concerning China-Japan-Mongolia technology cooperation on environment and sustainable development of the Mongolian Plateau.
  • On March 16, Prof. Toshio Koike, expert of the Coordinated Enhanced Observing Period (CEOP), who is also Professor of the Tokyo University, Japan paid a visit to China and delivered a lecture entitled ¡°Data interpretation and Downscaling of CEOP and GEO¡± at the invitation of the Institute of Tibet Plateau Research, CAS.
