Committee for Consultation and Appraisal of S&T Innovation Bases Established
On Sep. 28, CAS established a Committee for Consultation and Appraisal of S&T Innovation Bases, and held the first session. Lu Yongxiang, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of CAS, and Zhou Guangzhao, Chairman of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology co-chair the Committee.
The major function of the Committee is to make independent appraisal on construction of the S&T Innovation Bases of CAS in accordance with national strategic requirements and the frontiers of the world science, and to put forward proposals for decision¨Cmaking and assist CAS in strengthening macro-guidance to the construction of the S&T Innovation Bases. The Committee consists of senior, outstanding, impartial and rigorous S & T experts and administrators from relevant departments of the government, important national scientific and technological organizations, several research-oriented universities, and some enterprises. At least 2/3 of the experts are from outside of CAS, while members of the committee are invited by CAS. The Committee adopted the system of two co-chairmen. CAS shall invite strategic S &T experts of authority as the two chairmen. The chairmen are responsible for the routine work of the committee.
