International Cooperation Research & Development Briefs Friendly Visits
  • Recently, Dr. Artur Gutkowski, a young scientist from the Institute of Combustion of the Department of Mechanics, the University of Lodz , Poland, paid a six-month visit to the Institute of Mechanics, CAS.
  • On July 28, Dr. Hiroyuki Tanabe from Nippon Paint Co., Ltd , paid a visit to the Institute of Oceanology, CAS, on invitation.
  • Recently, Dr. David A. Wedin from the University of Nebraska, U.S. had a survey tour to the Qingyuan Station, managed by the Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology, CAS.
  • Recently, an EU Technical Expert Group of GLORIA led by Prof. Georg Grabherr of the Vienna University, who is academician of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and chief scientist of the Global Observation Research Initiative in Alpine Environments (GLORIA) paid a visit to the Chengdu Institute of Biology, CAS, and completed a field survey in Sichuan Province, China.
  • Recently, a Korean Delegation of Science and Technology from the Institute of Control Machinery of the Korean Academy of Sciences, paid a visit to the Shenyang Institute of Computer Technology Company Ltd., CAS.
  • Recently, Prof. Hidembergue Ordozgoith Da Frota from the Federal University of Amazon, Brazil and Gui Jianfang, Director General of the Institute of Hydrobiology, CAS signed an Agreement of Technical, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation Between the Federal University of Amazon, Brazil and the Institute of Hydrobiology, CAS.
  • Recently, Regius Prof. Geoffrey Boulton, glaciologist and Vice President of the University of Edinburgh, and Dr. Nini Yang from the International Coordination Office of the University (Beijing Office) paid a visit to the Lhasa Branch of the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, CAS.
  • Recently, a French delegation of scientists headed by Prof. Aspect and Prof. Leduc, world-famous quantum optics scientists, paid a visit to the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, CAS .
  • On Aug. 8-9, Prof. Cui Yu-jun from the French Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chauss¨¦es (ENPC) paid an academic visit to the Wuhan Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics . Prof. Cui was officially invited as visiting professor of the Institute.
  • On Aug. 9, a survey team from the Cuban Institute of Meteorology headed by Dr. Juan Carlos Antuna, paid a visit to the Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, CAS.
  • On the morning of Aug. 9, the Tokyo University Delegation of 6 people headed by Prof. Yutaka KIRINO, Vice President of the Tokyo University, paid a visit to the Shanghai Branch of CAS.
  • On Aug. 9, the first bilateral workshop between the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, CAS and the Sung Kyun Kwan University, South Korea, was held in the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry.
  • On Aug. 11, Prof. Wolfgang Steglich, Academician of the German Academy of Sciences, and Director of the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the University of Munich, paid a visit to the Kunming Institute of Botany.
  • On Aug. 11-12, Prof. Gao Fengge from the Nottingham Trent University , UK, paid a visit to the Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, CAS.
  • On Aug. 12, Prof. Kurt W¨ąthrich, the Nobel Prize Laureate in chemistry in 2002 paid a visit to the Institute of Biophysics. The Institute also invited him as a member of the International Advisory Committee of the institute.
  • On Aug. 15, L. J. Bruce McArthur, a Canadian environmental expert, paid a visit to the Anhui Institute of the Optical Precision Machinery, CAS.
  • On Aug. 15, Dr. Benedicte Berke from the Department of Biomedicine of the College of Pharmacology, Universit¨¦ Victor Segalen ¨C Bordeaux, paid a visit to the Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, CAS.
  • On Aug. 13-16, Mr. Richard Battarbee from the University of London, UK, paid a visit to the Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology.
  • On Aug. 13-20, Dr. Baitulin, academician of the Central Botanical Garden, Kazakhstan, and other experts paid a 7-day visit to the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, CAS.
  • On Aug. 16, Dr. Alan Heeger, the Nobel Prize Laureate in chemistry in 2000, paid a visit to the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, CAS on invitation.
  • On Aug. 16, Dr. Dominic Tweddle, CEO of the Continuum Group, UK, paid a visit to the South China Botanical Garden.
  • Recently, the second survey on biodiversity in the Hengduan Mountains sponsored by botanists from the Kunming Institute of Botany, CAS and the Specimen Laboratory of the Harvard University completed.
