Telants & Training International Cooperation Briefs Friendly Visits
  • On Sep. 27 th , Mr. Yang Seok Seo, Vice President of Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology paid a visit to Institute of Automation CAS.
  • Oct. 9 th to 12 th , a delegation of Germany headed by Mr. Bludau, Secretary General of the Max-Plank Society paid a visit to CAS and held a two-day seminar entitled ˇ°Scientific Management ˇ° at the headquarters of CAS with representatives from the relevant functional bureaus and research institutes. During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues related to planning, accounting, infrastructure construction, personnel management and institute administration and etc. This was the first time for the head offices to have a seminar of this kind in connection with administration field.
  • On Oct. 10 th , a 7-member delegation of the Advanced Technology Section of Comprehensive Institute of the Nissan Automobile headed by Dr. Oshima paid a visit to the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS.
  • On Oct. 12 th , a 6-member delegation of the Australian Academy of Sciences and CSIRO headed by Dr. Jim Peacock, President of the Australian Academy of Science paid a visit to the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, CAS.
  • On Oct. 13 th , the Institute of Geographical Science and Natural Resources Research, CAS officially signed the Agreement on Cooperation for Sustainable Development of Tourism under IHDP Framework with the Agricultural Economy and Resources Institute of the Goettingen University.
  • On Oct. 17 th , a Japanese delegation headed by Mr. Okimura Kazuki , Chairman of the Japan Science and Technology Agency, paid a visit to the Institute of Environment and Engineering for Cold and Drought Regions, CAS.
  • On Oct. 17 th , an 8-member delegation headed by Mr. Okimura Kazuki , Chairman of the Japan Science and Technology Agency and Mr. Wang Xingren, Executive President of OCLC Asia-Pacific paid a visit to the Institute of Modern Physics, CAS.
  • On Oct. 17 th , Mr. Dobrecov, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, President of Siberian Branch and Director of the Joint-Institute of Geology and Geophysics and Mineralogy paid a visit to the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, CAS.
  • On Oct. 19 th , a delegation headed by Mr. Tanaka Koichi, Lau rate of Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 2002 and director of the Quality Analysis Institute of the Shimadzu Corporation paid a visit to the Institute of Biophysics, CAS.
  • On Oct. 24 th , Chen Zhu, Member of CAS and Vice President of CAS met with the delegation of Croatian Academy of Science headed by Prof. Milan Mogus , President of Croatian Academy of Science at the Shanghai Science Activity Center.
  • On Oct. 26 th , Dr. Jean-Michel Contant, Secretary General of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) paid a visit to the Institute of Remote Sensing Application, CAS.
  • On Oct. 31 st , the National Center for Drug Screening announced that they had signed an agreement with the Invitrogen Co., US for joint research cooperation.
  • On Oct. 31 st , a delegation headed by Mr. Roberto Solari, Chief Technology Officer of the Medical Research Council, paid a visit to the Shanghai Institute for Biological Science, CAS.
  • Recently, Prof. John C. Crittenden of the Arizona State University was invited to visit the Institute of Chemistry, CAS and gave a lecture on Environmental Grand Challenges for this Generation.
  • On Nov. 2 nd , a delegation headed by Mr. Pongpan Vongmanee, Director of the Medical Science Department of the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand paid a visit to and signed the Agreement on Cooperation for Anti-HIV Pharmaceutical Development with the Kunming Institute of Botany, CAS.
  • On Nov. 2 nd to 4 th , the 8 th Annual Sino-American Frontier Science Symposium co-sponsored by CAS and the American Academy of Sciences opened in Xiamen. Nearly 100 young scientists, including more than 40 from each side, participated in the symposium.
  • On Nov. 5 th , a 4-member delegation headed by Dr. Hamm, Chief Executive Officer of the Robert Bosch Foundation, Germany paid a visit to the Nanjing Institute of Soil Science, CAS.
  • On Nov. 6 th to 8 th , Prof. David Hamilton of the Waikato University, New Zealand paid a visit to the Nanjing Institute of geography and Limnology, CAS.
  • On Nov. 8 th , Mr. Paul F. McManamon, Chairman 2006 of the International Society for Optical Engineering and chief scientist of the American Aerospace Lab, and Mr. Eugene G. Arthurs, former chairman of the International Society for Optical Engineering paid a visit to the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, CAS.
  • On Nov. 7 th to 9 th , a 6-member delegation headed by Dr. Pham Van Quy, Vice President of the Vietnamese Academy of Sciences paid a visit to the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, CAS.
  • On Nov. 10 th , Dr. Alice Ying, member of the US delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency and Dr. Richard J Kurtz from the Pacific Northwest National Lab made a one-day visit to the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, CAS and delivered a lecture there.
  • On Nov. 14 th , Mr. Shlomo Yerushalmi, Counsellor of Agriculture, Science and Development Section of the Israel Embassy to China, paid a visit to the Institute of Environment and Engineering in Cold and Drought Regions, CAS.
  • On Nov. 15 th , a delegation headed by Dr. Saksit Tridech, Permanent Secretary of the Thai Ministry of Science and Technology and Mr. Pichai Sonchang, Director of the Thai National Museum, paid a visit to the Institute of Zoology, CAS.
  • On Nov. 16 th , Mr. Franklin Chang-Diaz, President of the Ad Astra Rocket Co. and former astronaut of USA, a ccompanied by Prof. Liu Jiashu from the Houston University, paid a visit to the Institute of Plasma Physics, CAS.
  • On Nov.21 st , a delegation headed by Mr. Maruyama Tsuyoshi , Director of the Bureau for Science and Technology Policy of the Ministry of Culture and Science, paid a visit to the headquarters of CAS.
