International Conference on Nano Science and Technology Held in Beijing

On June 9, 2005, a grand opening ceremony of the International Conference on Nano science and technology was held in Beijing. More than 1,000 representatives from more than 40 countries attended the ceremony. 9 sessions were held in the conference. More than 90 scientists with international influence in fields of Nano-materials and preparation, technology of self-assembling technique, nano electronic devices and nano photonics, nano biotechnology and nano pharmaceutics, Nano structure testing and surface features were invited respectively to give lectures. Besides, more than 300 oral presentations were also presented in the conference.

Bai Chunli, Executive Vice President of CAS Meets US Delegation on Nano Science and Technology

Bai Chunli, Executive Vice President of CAS, met the 15 people of the US nano science and technology delegation organized by the American Battelle Memorial Institute that was on a visit to China in Beijing on June 8. He exchanged views with the Deputy Director of the institute and the delegates on the development of Nano science and technology, and discussed with the delegates the possibilities of cooperation in the field of nano-technology. They convinced that there are opportunities of cooperation in the nano carbon tubes and nano materials synthesis, which will be obviously beneficial to both sides. The members of the group came from many laboratories, universities, and nano science and technology companies under the US Department of Energy.
