Yongxiang Lu Met with the President of NEC Co.

On June 14, Yongxiang Lu, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and president of CAS, met the delegation headed by the president of Japanese NEC co. in Beijing. Both sides recalled the achievements attained in the past 10 years after the establishment of the NEC-CAS Software Institute Co., Ltd. and also discussed and exchanged ideas in regard to cooperation in areas such as computer, communication, semiconductors, etc.. President Lu thanked the software technicians and managerial personnel who had devoted themselves to the cooperation of both parties, and hoped further cooperation in more fields. Would create 10 times the current output through another 10 years of development.

The Seventh Symposium on Natural Gas Conversion

On June 10, the 7th Natural Gas Conversion Symposium was closed in Dalian. Famous scholars like Mr. Domenico Sanfilippo from Snamprogetti Limited in Italy, Professor Anders Holmen from Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Professor Frigyes Solymosi from University of Szeged in Hungary, Liwu Lin, CAS member from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Theo Fleisch, senior advisor from BP Company, addressed the closing ceremony of the symposium.
At the symposium, 274 specialists, scholars and industrial representatives from Asia, Europe, Americas, Australia and Africa had a wide-range discussion about the recent research findings and the development of new technology in synthesis gas production, catalytic combustion, producing chemicals from natural gas, production and conversion of mild alkane, and the conversion and use of natural gas.
