Yongxiang Lu Congratulated the Success of 11 Trillion Times Dawn 4000A Computer

Recently, president Yongxiang Lu sent a letter of congratulation to congratulated the Institute of Computing Technology on its successful development of the Dawn 4000A Computer, with 11 trillion times operating speed at the peak value floating-point and 8 trillion times Linpack operational value. The computer is ranked NO.10 among the World's Top 500 computers.
In the letter president Yongxiang Lu said: For more than 10 years the broad scientific and technical personnel people in the Institute have aroused their efforts to make the country prosperous, hammered out key technologies with painstaking efforts, and have developed a series of high performance computers having milestone importance.

Held Symposium on International Cooperation in the Sci- Technological Information & Digital Libraries

The Symposium on International Cooperation in the Scientific and Technological Information and Digital Libraries, sponsored by the library of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was held in Beijing on June 24. The meeting attracted more than 50 experts and scholars from U.S.A, Britain, Canada, South Africa, domestic scientific research institutions, university's libraries and CAS.

This meeting is part of the International Symposium on the Scientific Data Protection and Sharing Strategies. With sharing scientific and technological information and digital libraries as the theme of the symposium, seven experts, including Dr. Helen Doyle from the American Public Library, gave reports on the prospect of sharing information, building an open digital library, and financial issues of sharing scientific magazines.
