TimeFairy-A New Generation of Network Time Synchronizer by the National Time Service Center

The National Time Service Center officially launched on 1 May a new generation of network time synchronizer software-TimeFairy that it developed on "http://www.time.ac.cn". The new network time synchronizer is more user-friendly than the former ones, and is widely adaptable and compatible with different operating systems and network environment. It does not require the user to download and install the software. Once you are connected with the internet, all you need to do is to click on the "Time Synchronizing" icon on the "http://www.time.ac.cn" front page, and the time on your computer will be synchronized, no matter whether you are using Windows98 or Window XP, or whether you have to pass a proxy server or the virus fire wall.

Forging China's Web of Knowledge

On 12 May a conference introducing "ScienceChina-the Chinese Science Documentation Service System" was held at the CAS Documentation and Information Center. It took more than two years for the CAS Documentation and Information Center, in cooperation with a number of CAS institutions and on the basis of the Chinese Science Quotation Database and the Chinese Science Documentation Databank, to build ScienceChina (http://sciencechina.cn), one of the key projects in building China's National Digital Library on Science. It has now started to serve the users in the research institutes.
