I. Project Overview

The International Partnership Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for Future Network Project is aimed at young scientists under the age of 40 within the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The project consists of small-scale international cooperation projects that enhance international cooperation with CAS and foster talent and may lead to important scientific discoveries and technological innovations and will expand CAS’s diversified international cooperation network.

II. Key Funding Areas

Complementary Long-term Cooperation: The project will prioritize collaborations with foreign partners who have subject, technological, resource or market advantages. The two sides will cooperate over the long-term.

Scarce Long-term Cooperation: The project will focus on key points and gaps of CAS in foreign cooperation. It will leverage unique and scarce research platforms of foreign partners for long-term cooperation.

Fundamental Research and Applied Basic Research: The project will primarily, but not exclusively, support collaborations in fundamental research and applied basic research that focus conceptually on disruptive technologies, principally on foundational technologies, and effectively on transformative technologies.

III. Application Criteria

1. The project leader must be a full-time researcher of CAS including special research assistants and foreign researchers, and must be under the age of 40 as of January 1, 2024.

2. The project leader must not be involved in any ongoing projects of the International Partnership Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

IV. Filing Instructions

1. Log in to the new-generation ARP international cooperation module, click on “International Partnership Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences — Feasibility Report — New Project”, fill in the sections under the “Basic Information” and “Report Content” tabs, and upload the following attachments:

(1) Cooperation agreements, cooperation letters of intent or other written proof of collaboration signed with the main foreign partner of this project.

(2) Materials evidencing previous cooperation, such as cooperation projects, talent plans, cooperation achievements and other relevant certification materials.

2. Select “International Partnership Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for Future Network” in the “Project Category” column, ensuring that the project start time in the “Project Implementation Period” column is January 2024.

3. The project will be funded for a period of three years with funding of 300,000 yuan.
