Bai Chunli, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, held discussions with Alexander Sergeev, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, at the Russian-Chinese symposium on the Deep-sea Exploration of the World Ocean in the city of Sanya on China's Hainan Island, on March 25.
The two men reached preliminary consensus on cooperation in various fields, such as joint Arctic expeditions, research on the Earth's third pole, astrophysics, brain science and artificial intelligence.
Bai and his Russian counterpart, the President and Vice-President respectively of the Alliance of International Science Organizations in the Belt and Road Region, or ANSO, also exchanged ideas on how to develop the organization and how to function under its framework.
