The MIT China Summit, which was hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), opened in Beijing on Nov 13.

The summit offered an opportunity for the scientists from the two countries to discuss solutions to global challenges.

In his speech at the event, CAS President Bai Chunli stressed the importance of in-depth communication, mutual trust and cooperation in fulfilling the enormous potential of cooperation between the scientific circles of the two countries.

MIT President Rafael Reif said that he looks forward to further promoting the exchange and cooperation between the scientific communities of China and the US.

The statements of both sides are of great significance given the current state of the relationship between the US and China.
