CHINESE ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

The first China-US Symposium on Sustainable Development Goals, hosted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of the United States, opened in Beijing on Nov 1.

Experts and scholars from China and the US at the symposium in Beijing on Nov 1

More than 20 experts and scholars from the two countries, including CAS Vice President Hou Jianguo and Marcia McNutt, President of the US’s National Academy of Sciences, gathered under the theme “sustainable urban development”, one of the sustainable development goals.

After in-depth discussions on such topics such as remote sensing monitoring & earth big data, the development of ecological civilization & green transformation, biodiversity conservation & urban ecology, and water, food and energy supply in urban environments, the participants reached a series of consensuses on exchange and cooperation mechanisms as well as their expected results.
