Wang Yifang, director of the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of High Energy Physics received the Italian Commander Medal on Oct 11.
The award ceremony was held in the Embassy of Italy in China, where Italian ambassador to China Ettore Francesco Sequi presented the medal and a certificate to Wang.
The medal was granted to honor Wang’s contribution to the particle physics research and efforts in promoting Sino-Italian technological cooperation by the Italian president.
China and Italy have a long history of cooperation on particle physics research. The two countries have conducted wide cooperation and exchange on Gran Sasso National Laboratory’s LVD Experiment, DAMA Experiment and Frascati National Laboratory’s accelerator and KLOE Experiment, as well as the ARGO Experiment in Yangbajain region of China’s Tibet.
