A signing ceremony for a strategic cooperation framework agreement between CAS and the State Oceanic Administration was held in Beijing on Nov 10.
Under the agreement, the two sides will conduct all-round cooperation in national strategic planning for ocean science and technology, major tasks such as global ocean stereoscopic observation networks, establishment of national ocean labs and strategic alliances for industrial and technological innovation, and international cooperation and talent cultivation.
They aim to provide crucial scientific and technological support for China’s efforts to boost its capability in oceanography and the implementation of the Maritime Silk Road Initiative, and make greater contributions to economic and social development, scientific and technological advancement and national security as far as ocean studies are concerned.
