CHINESE ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

The Gaofen-3, China's first C-band high-resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite, was put into operation on January 23. It features 1-meter resolution.

The satellite was the fourth one successfully launched under China's special program for high-resolution earth observation. Its data service will be used in a variety of fields including ocean monitoring, disaster reduction, water conservation and meteorological research. It will be of particular significance in meeting the Belt and Road countries' demand for satellite remote sensing data.
