The opening ceremony for the Chinese Academy of Sciences' （CAS's）annual science show was held at the China Science and Technology Museum on July 25.

Since its launch in 2012, “Innovation Driving Development, Science Leading the Future - CAS Sci-Tech Innovation Touring Exhibition” has become an important brand in popularizing science and technology, said CAS Deputy Secretary-General Tan Tieniu in his address to the opening.

As 2015 marks the first year of the CAS's Pioneer Initiative, Exhibition 2015 features major scientific and technological research achievements as well as selected items from the CAS’s affiliated research institutes for science popularization.

Visitors to the show can have a glimpse of achievements in world science and technology, as well as those which meet China’s major needs and other accomplishments that focus on main sectors of the economy or the general public.

In order to meet diversified public needs, the exhibition employs a variety of forms, including animations, models, videos, photos and texts. A team of specially trained volunteer guides is a plus.

In addition, the public can log onto the exhibition’s website as an extension to their visiting experience and do more science readings.

Last year’s show attracted nearly one million visitors from nine provinces, including Hebei, Anhui and Guangdong, Tan said.
