On the occasion of the Chinese New Year, Hou Jianguo, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), visited renowned scientists to extend sincere New Year greetings to them.
These outstanding scientists include Nobel laureate of physics Yang Zhenning, wheat scientist Li Zhensheng, meteorologist Zeng Qingcun, and physicist Zhao Zhongxian.
Li, Zeng, and Zhao are members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and winners of China’s top science award.
During the visits, Hou asked about their health and living conditions. At Tsinghua University, Hou and Yang exchanged views on facilitating national scientific and technological innovation and strengthening international scientific and technological cooperation.
Li talked about his 31 years of working experience in Northwest China, conducting wheat breeding and implementing agricultural science projects.
Zeng listened to suggestions on strengthening discipline construction, talent training, and basic research; and Zhao put forward suggestions on further strengthening scientific and technological innovation in China and reform and innovation of CAS.
