On January 29, a delegation of the Korea Arboreta and Gardens Institute (KoAGI) and Gachon University visited the Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

Puno Pema-Tenzin, Director of CAS’s KIB, and Kwangsu Ryu, Chairperson of KoAGI, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the two institutes respectively. The two sides agreed to enhance exchanges and cooperation on the conservation and sustainable use of plant diversity and resources, and to promote the building of a global network of seed banks and botanical gardens.

During the delegation’s visit to the Germplasm Bank of Wild Species and the Kunming Botanical Garden of KIB, the two sides held in-depth exchanges in the areas of collection and conservation of germplasm resources, as well as ex situ and in situ conservation of wild plants.
