Bai Chunli, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), signed an agreement on behalf of the academy with a French energy organization to cooperate on fundamental research and applications at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on November 6.
The deal, between CAS and the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) was witnessed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The agreement between the two sides is expected to further promote exchanges and cooperation between China and France in substance science, material science, life science, nanotechnology, and information technology.
CEA is a key organization in research, development and innovation in France. Its main areas include defense and security, nuclear and renewable energy, technological research for industry, and physical and life sciences.
Zhang Yaping, vice-president of CAS, and CEA Chairman Fran?ois Jacq had a talk on the implementation of the agreement on November 5.
They agreed to hold seminars to discuss cooperation in key research fields and carry out the agreement through joint research and personnel exchanges.
