Hou welcomed Farhod on behalf of CAS President Bai Chunli, and introduced CAS, the University of Science and Technology of China and the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to his guest. He also reviewed progress in cooperation and exchanges between the two academies in recent years, and expressed the hope that they will continue their cooperation in science and technology for increased mutual benefit. He extended special thanks to the Tajik academy and to Farhod personally for their long-term attention to and support for the Dushanbe branch center of the CAS Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia, voicing the hope that the Tajik side will continue to support the center’s work and involve various relations in Tajikistan to tap the full potential of the facility.
Farhod briefed Hou on the first meeting of the China-Tajikistan science and technology cooperation commission held in Dushanbe last month, saying that bilateral science and technology cooperation sets an example for other cooperation programs between the two countries. The Tajik academy will always support the Dushanbe center and maintain its goal of boosting the center’s position and influence, he noted.
The two sides also held discussions on cultivating talented physicists for Tajikistan and carrying out more cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Representatives from the Bureau of International Co-operation and CAS’ Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography were also present at the meeting.
