CAS Vice-President Zhang Jie met with a delegation headed by Teck Seng Low, chief executive officer of the Singapore National Research Foundation, in Beijing on Sept 21.

Zhang proposed that the two sides should further enhance cooperation and set up long-term cooperation mechanisms in the fields of smart cities and sustainable development, artificial intelligence and digital economy, clean energy and green economy, precision medicine and issues of an ageing society.

Low said that Singapore is a small country, a typical city-state, and faces many challenges in urban transport, energy security, and dealing with an ageing population. He added that his foundation is willing to explore future-oriented long-term cooperation in these areas.

The two sides agreed to hold relevant small-scale annual symposiums.
