Vladimir Šucha, Director-General of the Joint Research Centre (JRC), and Professor Bai Chunli, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), signed a research framework arrangement on June 2 at EU headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
The ceremony took place in the framework of the EU-China Summit 2017.
Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang, President of the European Council Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker witnessed the signing.
According to the arrangement, the two parties will focus their joint research on areas such as air quality and agriculture observation, remote sensing and disaster risk management, Digital Earth, topographic mapping , smart grids, large-scale scientific facilities and sci-tech consultation.
Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation from its current level through collaborative research, talent cultivation, personnel exchanges and jointly-held seminars.
