The Chinese Academy of Sciences and NTT DATA signed a letter of intent for cooperation on January 20.

Based on previous engagements, the two sides will strengthen cooperation in information and communication technology, artificial intelligence and other fields through holding bilateral symposiums, conducting collaborative research and facilitating personnel exchanges, according to the agreement.

NTT DATA, a top Japanese IT service provider, is among five core groups under the NTT Group, one of the top 500 companies in the world. NTT DATA’s business covers outsourced software development, system integration, business process outsourcing and cloud computing. Currently, the company has 100,000 employees worldwide and more than 200 affiliated companies, with registered capital totaling about 11 billion yuan ($1.6 billion) and annual sales exceeding 100 billion yuan.

CAS-NTT cooperation has lasted for more than 20 years. Many CAS research institutes maintain exchange and cooperation ties with NTT DATA, and a joint laboratory has also been set up.

Moreover, the two sides have carried out substantive collaborative research programs in a variety of fields, including intelligent transport and social networking data analysis and application.
