The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science held a series of celebratory events to mark the 50th anniversary of their cooperation in Berlin, Germany, on October 28.

CAS President Hou Jianguo, and the President of the Max Planck Society, Patrick Cramer, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony of the celebration series.

Since they set up cooperative relations in 1974, the organizations have engaged in a series of fruitful collaborations over the past five decades, yielding abundant outcomes.

Various celebratory events are held to mark the 50th anniversary of the cooperation between CAS and the Max Planck Society.

The celebration series, which included high-level strategic dialogues, parallel forums, an exhibition reviewing their cooperation, and a celebratory ceremony, was conducted to honor the scientific achievements they made together and further enhance mutual understanding and deepen cooperation.

About 300 renowned scientists from China and Germany were engaged in lively and in-depth academic discussions on topics such as synthetic biology, climate change, ecological and environmental protection, fundamental physics, and the history of natural sciences. They reached consensuses on cooperation in various fields.
