Based on the agreement between the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Royal Society (RS) and subsequent consensus, both parties will continue to jointly fund exchange and collaboration projects in 2024.

1. Project Description

Funding Areas:

Mathematics and Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Engineering and Materials Science, Information Science, and Medical Science. Applicants need to choose the corresponding subordinate code for application code 1, and it is recommended to select to the last level. Applications that do not fill in the designated application code will not be accepted.

Funding Amount:

NSFC will provide up to 100,000 RMB per project, and RS will provide up to 12,000 pounds per project.

Funding Coverage:

NSFC will cover British researchers’ accommodation, meals, and intercity transportation expenses in China. RS will cover British researchers’ travel expenses to China.

Funding Period:

The funding period is two years, from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026.

2. Eligibility of Applicants

In accordance with the National Natural Science Foundation of China International (Regional) Cooperation and Exchange Programs Management Measures and the consensus reached by both parties, applicants must meet the following conditions:

· Research partners from the UK should meet the requirements given by RS;

· Applicants from China and the UK should submit their applications to NSFC and RS, respectively. Single-sided applications will not be accepted.

· This program aims to encourage new collaborations between China and the UK and involve young researchers.

3. Notification of Approval Results

The results will be announced through the NSFC’s Internet-based Science Information System at https://grants.nsfc.gov.cn.
