Research Center of Finance Engineering and Venture Capital
Management is an inter-disciplinary (including mathematics, management science
& engineering, and finance) research center focusing on the theoretical,
methodological and case study in the field of finance mathematics, finance engineering
and venture capital management, as well as the pragmatic issues in relation
with the nation's economic and finance security, with its core on the theoretical
and methodological approach in applied mathematics. It was formally established
in January , 2003.
Research Center of Finance Engineering and Venture Capital Management will further promote cooperation between the Academy and the finance institutions both at home and abroad; reinforce its research on the related issues in the nation's economic and finance security; and put forward the approaches for the precaution, solution of potential risks as well as the resistance to outside pressure, in the purpose of ensuring the development of national economy in a sustaining, swift and healthy way. Efforts should be made to yield more innovative research results and bring forth more outstanding talents so as to make it into one of the attractive research centers of finance engineering and venture capital management in our country.
"Anti-Poverty Programme by Means of Mushroom" in Xinjiang
Ferula asafetida is a medicinal herb, in its root part grows a huge parasitic fungus called "Ferula mushroom", which is both edible and curable for diseases. It is peculiar to Mulei County, where the folk famed it as Ganoderma lucidum, characteristic of its tender meat, delicate texture and rich nutrition. This is a rare mushroom that can be used as food and medicine. Since 1992, Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography has been engaged in the promotion of the artificial cultivation technology of this mushroom and seeking possible ways for its technological transfer. Supported by Changji Regional Government, Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, together with Xiujiang Dunhe Group and National Capital Center in Mulei County, set up The Ferula Mushroom Enterprise Co. Ltd Mulei in 1998. And this eventually led the development of "Ferula Mushroom" into the forms of scientific cultivation, scaled production, intensified management and industrialized production. At present, a series of this deep processed products from the company have been sold to such countries or regions as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and Southeastern Asian countries, which obviously has opened up a new way for farmers and herdsmen as well in Mulei County to shake off poverty, and hence emerged as an increasing point for the economic development in Mulei County.
"Black and White Rubbish Turned into Valuables": Abandoned Resource Recycled through Cooperation
The fly ash and wasted plastics, which have been abandoned over a long period of time, attained the goal of recycling. "High quality composite material inspection well lid of regenerated resin produced by fly ash and wasted plastics using for municipal engineering", the CAS-Pudong High-tech Initiating Project undertaken by Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, CAS, passed expert appraisal in Changchun. The expert committee said that the mechanical properties of this new-style composite material inspection well lid of regenerated resin produced through suitable recipe and technological process exceeds the same cast iron products. It exploits a new way for the recycling of abandoned solid resources and will promote the development of the related industries.
